Talia's StyleFile - Accessories

One of the things I most love to do, is to make an outfit entirely mine. It's a rare designer that doesn't appreciate the wearer showing off the versatility of their much loved and often sweated over new look. So be bold and daring. In an earlier post (now gone) I wore Bliss's 'Flutterby' (House of Beningborough), a delightful black and white gown. The thing is, sooner or later we all discover that wonderful new design and start meeting ourselves around every corner, so I like to take a look at every layer of the design and see what I can wear differently to everyone else :) Mostly this can be achieved by adding and subtracting. Subtract parts of the outfit, and add accessories. Black and white is very 'in' right now, and it's a joy to play with. Add red and you have drama; add yellow/orange and you have something a little exotic; try purples for a regal look; blues for a cool one or go crazy and mix and match the accessory colours to that 'clashing colour' look that has taken the fancy of some designers RL and SL.
Bliss (Bliss Beningborough - House of Beningborough) is one of those designers whose undergarments are as interesting as the outer ones. Find those designers and treasure them, they're worth their weight in gold. Designers should not have to show every layer of their product to win you over. Be sassy when you shop, find and make a note of designers who design in such a way that you can use all of their design. I loved playing with this one. Adding hot pink made the outfit into something unique.
I made my own armbands and coloured them to fit (didn't want to lose my lovely new prim nails), retextured parts of the hair, and belt (I so love designers who allow mod, bless em, they'll have me as a customer forever), then the BAX over-the-knee boots, and recoloured Zaara's wonderful necklace and earrings. And of course a skin by Lion Jonesford of Lion Skins [Zulu]......well the outfit deserved an exotic skin to go with the look. Voila! :) So be daring, it's worth it.

And here's what I did with Bliss's 'Daisy' outfit :) I definitely wanted this one exotic so I went for the yellow/orange combination, and of course, another Lion Jonesford [Zulu] skin. I recoloured the belt (MM), added the HUGE gold hoops, a gift from Applonia (Chantake - thanks Appi, love these) and my all time favourite scarf (men's HA!). It's the "Shoreditch" scarf and can be found here - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dreamworld%20East/184/196/22.
Oh yes, the turban..........PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE some more turban designs that allow copy and mod...I could so use more of these. This one came from Chickadee London's Couture Chapeau Flagship Store - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Maldives/54/205/23 and thankfully had a colour close enough to the yellow I was after. I added Moody's Color set Python's in orange and that was that! http://slurl.com/secondlife/Stiletto%20Moody/43/44/35

So go for it and enjoy stamping an outfit with your own unique interpretation of how it can look on you.

About Me

My photo
I have double majors in English Literature and Theatre Studies, did my Fine Arts and MM studies, but I'm stuck with teaching myself Photoshop CS2 lol. Can't complain though, it's lots of fun. I'm a very private person until you get to know me, and even then, it takes time. Comes from being painfully shy as a child. I overcame that by being involved in theatre, but it's a 'learned' behaviour to be outgoing and not one that comes naturally. Being an INFP means that being outgoing for any length of time leaves me tired :) so I hide out somewhere quiet to recharge my batteries. If you're a friend, you won't be aware of it unless you've known me a very long time. The shyness and quietness shows up when I'm in a gathering where I don't know anyone.
